Additional technical details
Fibers sit in a high-modulus loose tube filled with water-resistant compound. Coated steel tape is applied longitudinally around the tube, with parallel steel wires on either side and a UV-protective polyethylene sheath. Water blocking and gel protect the fibers, while the wires provide tensile and crush resistance. Applications include access networks, particularly FTTC and FTTB, interoffice links, CATV, long-distance and building communications. Operating temperature −40 to +70 °C; bending radius 10 × diameter static and 20 × dynamic. The manufacturer states a service life above 30 years with controlled production and materials.
